The additions and renovations to the Bryan Jones Theatre have created a state-of-the-art performing arts venue for Lakefield College School. With a Shakespearian thrust stage, complete with three vomitories, the theatre has been completely renovated as a 250-seat multipurpose hall that can be used for large performances such as a band/choir concert to smaller, more intimate gatherings such as a debate or piano recital. This is facilitated through the adjustment of the mahogany proscenium panels at the wings (in or out) to suit the type of performance.
The addition creates a large new lobby/common area linking two wings of the existing classroom building, rationalizing the overall circulation. The lobby is large enough to accommodate seating clusters as well as acting as a gallery space for displaying student art. The existing backstage areas have all been renovated and complemented by expanded facilities in the new lower level of the lobby. New mechanical and electrical systems are also an integral part of the renovation/addition.
