This 11,300 sq. ft. project has met the growing medical needs for the Municipality of Port Hope. Designed to provide clinical care, counselling, and therapy, the facility features an 80-seat multi-purpose room with an associated training kitchen, nine examination rooms, a specimen collection laboratory, physiotherapy space, offices/consulting rooms for dieticians/social workers, group counselling rooms, and a dental suite.
The Board of the CHC is committed to healthy living through the creation of a healthy building and the design was therefore targeted to achieve LEED CI Gold certification. Innovative elements of the design involve the use of agri-fibre products for millwork, renewable resources, non off-gassing products, green guard specified furniture and many other environmental elements. This was the first project in Canada to use 100% FSC-Certified wood throughout a building.
