Located in Peterborough’s west end, Canterbury Gardens is Peterborough’s latest retirement residence for next generation retirement living targeting active seniors. The 107-suite residence is anchored by a three-storey atrium with floor-to-ceiling glazing and formal shade arcade that brings in natural light. In addition to the atrium, the facility contains a therapeutic salt-water aquafit pool, a spa, hair salon, cinema, pub, and fireside lounge. Like Royal Gardens, Canterbury Gardens also features a three-storey main building, behind which are located separate townhouse blocks with bungalow-style homes for more independent living.
The building was constructed entirely from recycled pre-engineered and factory assembled light-gauge steel wall and floor panel framing. Canterbury Gardens also has the distinction of being one of the first projects in Canada to use FORTACRETE non-combustible floor sheathing throughout the building.
