Junior Project Lead

Who Maxine is

Maxine brings a fresh perspective and dedication to the Unity team as a Junior Project Lead. Having recently graduated with both Undergraduate and Master’s degrees from the McEwen School of Architecture in Sudbury, she is demonstrating a natural aptitude for architectural design and management. While on her pathway to licensure through the OAA Internship in Architecture Program, Maxine efficiently steers significant residential projects, underscoring her adeptness in translating client visions into tangible designs.

Outside the studio, Maxine cherishes the outdoors, often reminiscing about her Northern Ontario roots and moments spent at her cottage on the French River.

“People are the soul of architecture.
Without people, architecture is meaningless.”

Why Maxine Does it

Maxine is driven by the profound belief that architecture plays a pivotal role in fostering community. She values the unique connections architecture enables, both in the tangible design realm and the intangible realm of human interactions. Her dedication is fuelled by the idea that architecture, at its core, is about these human connections. With an aim to infuse urban landscapes with vibrancy and beauty, Maxine is committed to crafting spaces that not only draw people in but also create opportunities for meaningful interactions within the urban context.

What Maxine Does

Maxine adeptly steers projects from their initial ideation through to their tangible completion. Collaborating closely with clients and consultants, she aims to craft designs that resonate deeply within the communities Unity engages with. Throughout each project phase, Maxine prioritizes maintaining open dialogue and ensuring all stakeholders feel valued and involved. As she continues to refine her craft, she remains dedicated to designing with a focus on wellness, inclusivity, and community enrichment.

Giving

To fulfill our commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility, every member of the Unity team has chosen an organization that aligns with their personal values and purpose. Unity has made a donation on behalf of each team member to their chosen organization.

Why Maxine chose: Northern Cancer Foundation

“I have chosen to support the Cristina Care Fund in support of the Northern Cancer Foundation. At the age of 25, my beloved Aesthetic Group Gymnastics coach Cristina was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. She continued to invest her time in coaching and remained positive, despite her health struggles. After touching many hearts and enduring a long four-year battle, Cristina passed away at the age of 29. To honour her legacy Cristina’s family and friends created the fund to help patients who require stem cell treatments in Ottawa or Toronto with their travel costs. Cristina always encouraged me and had a great influence on shaping the woman I am today and for this I will always be grateful.”
