Peterborough Fire Station No. 2 - Update!

It’s time for an update on Peterborough Fire Station No. 2!

The new fire station is the city’s first Net-Zero Energy & Zero Carbon project, adhering to the Canada Green Building Council’s Zero Carbon Building Standard in both design and performance. The project will replace where the old Northcrest Arena once stood and utilize salvaged wood from the arena. On top of recycling materials the new building will feature geothermal heating, eliminating the need to burn fuel during regular operations, plus a full solar array will be installed on top of the roof to further offset the energy use of the fire station.

Fire Station No. 2 broke ground earlier this year in February and construction has been progressing well ever since! We’re excited to watch as this project comes to life, stay tuned for more updates on the progress!
